Internal Family Systems® Trainings
Developed and refined by Dr. Richard Schwartz over three decades, Internal Family Systems (IFS) has gained popularity worldwide. IFS trainings and workshops at the Center for Mindfulness and Compassion offer a supportive, collaborative environment to explore IFS techniques and the concept of parts.
Why IFS?
Gain a non-pathologizing, empowering perspective on human cognition and emotions
Expand your practice to work effectively with individuals, couples, families, groups, and children
Embrace a client-centered approach that honors each individual's pace and goals
Cultivate a trusting, collaborative partnership with clients
Early randomized trials and quasi-experimental studies suggest that IFS may benefit patients with depression and/or PTSD, including consistent improvements in self-compassion. However, the evidence base remains small. Larger, rigorously designed RCTs—with replication for each condition—are needed to establish the effectiveness, safety, and mechanisms of IFS interventions. Although preliminary findings are promising, IFS cannot yet be considered demonstrably effective for depression or PTSD and can only be weakly recommended within an empirically supported treatment framework. For other conditions, where evidence is even more limited or absent, IFS should be regarded as an experimental intervention within evidence-based practice standards.
