Dilara Ally, PhD, MSW (she/her). I am honored to be the inaugural Richard C. Schwartz Fellow. I am interested in studying the efficacy, scalability, and sustainability of Internal Family Systems as a frontline treatment for PTSD/trauma; possible underlying psychological mechanisms of action (e.g. perspective taking, acceptance, emotion regulation); and the potential of IFS for relational repair and sociopolitical transformation. With a clinical background working with veterans, refugees, and ovarian cancer patients, my clinical focus is trauma, depression, and anxiety. I have trained in compassion/mindfulness, acceptance-based interventions, as well as psychodynamic frameworks. I came to clinical social work with a PhD in Statistical Genetics and extensive quantitative-based research experience within the life sciences industry. Central to my work is a commitment to an ecological perspective of mental health, the creation of more equitable partnerships between researcher and researched, and the legitimization of different ways of knowing.
