Marcelo Trombka, MD is a Research Fellow at CMC working on the Portuguese MINDFUL-PC Study. He is a board certified psychiatrist passionate about mind-body medicine and the integration of contemplative practices, neuroscience, positive psychology/psychiatry, health promotion and genuine wellbeing. He is the founder of Viva Mindfulness, an organization aiming to promote mindfulness and compassion in the Brazilian society. He completed the Compassion Cultivation Training (CCT) Teacher Certification Program through Compassion Institute and Stanford University, is a mindfulness teacher certified by Mente Aberta – Brazilian Center for Mindfulness and Health Promotion and has training in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. He is investigating the effectiveness of mindfulness training to enhance quality of life, reduce burnout and promote mental health in police officers in a multicentric randomized controlled trial for his PhD in Brazil, where he works in private practice and offers talks, workshops and programs to the general public and in academic and corporate contexts.
